Each month, the Gallatin Public Library displays a different art exhibit. For the month of June, they are featuring celebrated Gallatin artist Bill Puryear. For more information about Mr. Puryear, read below.

Bill Puryear lives on a Middle Tennessee farm north of Nashville, where he paints from his studio overlooking the Cumberland River. While he paints in all media and genre, his special interest is realizing the beauty of our environment, which is vanishing every day and which we are often too busy to notice.

His works have been displayed in juried shows at Cheekwood, the Parthenon, the Central South, The Junior Service League, Warner Park Nature Center and other shows. He is represented in numerous private, corporate and institutional collections. His Rites of Passage was calendar picture for The Tennessee Conservationist and his Greenfield Station was chosen a Sumner County Bicentennial print.

He is a member of the Tennessee Art League, The Tennessee Watercolor Society, ArtSumner, The Chestnut Group, and a Signature Member of Southern Light Artists of America.
