Kathleen Haynes
Watercolor, Oils, Pen & Ink, Mixed Media
Kathleen Haynes grew up on a farm in Sumner County. Both a watercolorist and an oil painter, she works in a loose, interpretive style. Known for her cool “painterly” landscapes, she often paints on site with The Chestnut Group or the Bugg Hollow Plein Air Painters. She says, “Nothing can give your artwork such freshness and honesty as real sky above you and grass beneath your feet. It makes you “feel” more than “think.”
This artist is a Southern Watercolor Society award winner, signature member & award winner of TN Watercolor Society, signature member Women Painters of the Southeast, juried member of the Nashville Artist Guild, and long-time exhibitor with The Chestnuts and the Sumner Studio Tour. An advocate for endangered natural environments and historic sites, Haynes gives generously of her art and her time, including nineteenth-century re-enactment.
